On the Road Again

I just can’t wait to get on the road again. 🎶

My view of the Mercantile from the Frontier.

Well, actually… I have been on the road for 2 days now and I have 3 days left to go. The road trip of a lifetime, and doing it all solo.

Once upon a time, as a little girl in elementary school, the local school district made it so that the bus ride to and from school will no longer be free. So, when things were tight around the house, money wise, my dad made me walk home from school. One day I remember NOT wanting to walk home. I remember wandering around the area of the school for a LONG while. The ultimate dilly dally. The walk should take me about 15-20 minutes, max, but that one day, it took me at least 2 hours. All I wanted was to be at home and not on the street walking there. As I left yesterday morning, that thought crossed my mind. If I had just buckled down to get the walk done, I would have been home so much sooner. That was the thought that kept me driving, onward towards my way home.

This drive will take me a total of 5 days and about 2,640 miles. I put in the biggest haul yesterday, a whopping 12.5 hours and made it from Baltimore, MD. to St. Louis, MO. Todays trip only took me to Pawhuska, OK. Originally the goal was OKC tonight. But the Frontier Hotel had a room available, so I took the opportunity! Of course, that means an extra 3 hours on my drive tomorrow, but that’s OK, I love this town.

NOTE: I have been home for 3 days now, the drive went very well. Very uneventful which is what you want for a road trip. I am so glad I got to stay the night once gain in Pawhuska, OK. I look forward to my next visit.
