Photography Class Project

Once upon a time, I went to Palomar College in hopes to learn how to build my business! During that time, I wanted to take a class that was dedicated to building a photography business and I knew that would be the right class for me. At this time, I was already a working photographer. However there was a flaw in the system! To take the photography business class, I was required to take basic photography classes. Seriously? When I already had people paying to hire me to attend their birth as a birth photographer, I was required to take not just one, but TWO basic photography classes! OK, here we go! I went into the classes knowing that I always learn something new, even when learning the basics! I was right, I learned some new things here and there. After all, when I started photography, I didn’t have any education to propel me forward, I had a hubs! He taught me all that I knew! Well, hubs and Flickr. I would get onto Flickr and check out the camera data for the photos that seem to most represent what genera I had a desire to get into.

One thing I can say for sure, when making the beach my subject, I can without a doubt, I had the best “office” around. I mean, look at this!

My office when shooting the sunset

Sunset was for sure my favorite time of day to shoot! But my teacher said at almost every class, if there are lights, make sure they are LIT! The week before this project, I got my one and only B grade because I did a prostrate shoot with him that had a lamp that I failed to turn on. I got a B over NOT turning on the lamp! That being said, I stayed right there until the lights of the pier had illuminated Yep, didn’t take long though and usually I stay upwards to a full hour after the sunset if there is still light in the sky! But I knew NOT to turn in any print unless those pier lights were turned on! Final product!

It’s safe to say the big girl camera just might have been able to capture the colors of the sky much better than whatever iPhone I had at the time. Then again, you cannot just set your photo settings into an iPhone the same way you can with a Canon 6D. Anything and everything you see in that one single image requires a tripod and wired shutter trigger! Perhaps someday iPhone will be as amazing as my Canon. But a girl has to keep her Canon, for sure! I hope you enjoy and please drop a comment if you like! ❤ Thank you for stopping by! ❤
